Phase 2 is a go.
We’re moving into the next stage of our COVID-19 re-opening plan as of 8 a.m. Wednesday.
You can have informal social gatherings of 10 people indoors without masks or physical distancing; 25 people can gather outdoors.
Restaurants can offer both indoor and outdoor dining; retail stores can operate at 50 per cent capacity.
You can find a full list of changes by clicking here.
Dr. Robert Strang, the province’s chief medical officer of health, says we’ve done well.
“Nova Scotians are working hard and we’re making progress, so we need to celebrate that, but let’s also stay cautious,” he says. “We still have cases, and the Delta variant is starting to circulate more widely in other parts of Canada.”
The province re-opens to the rest of the Atlantic region June 23; we’re expected to re-open to the rest of the country no later than July 14.
Premier Iain Rankin says the four Atlantic premiers had plenty of discussion, and that June 23 date was the closest they could get to all being on the same page.
“This is as close as we’ve been able to come with three provinces on the same date- New Brunswick is sticking to a plan that they’ve set out,” he says. “We may still all end up on the 23rd- I understand (their) next phase could be reached before the 23rd.”
There are four new cases, our lowest daily case count since three cases were reported April 15.
We’re down to 97 active cases after 29 more recoveries.
Six people are in hospital, including four in intensive care.
