No new COVID-19 cases to report among the three Maritime provinces as more travel restrictions are set to ease in the region.
Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island all reported no new cases of the virus on Monday. It was a provincial holiday in Newfoundland and Labrador, so a press release on their numbers wasn’t issued.
In a news release, Premier Iain Rankin said this was the first time our province logged no new cases since March 29th, adding it’s good news heading into the summer.
He said we should be proud of our efforts, but cautioned we cannot let our guard down. He added we must continue to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible and follow all public health measures.
Active cases in Nova Scotia have now fallen to 79.
Meantime, our province is scheduled to ease restrictions at the border with the Atlantic region tomorrow, removing the need to self-isolate for two weeks when returning.
Premier Iain Rankin and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang will provide a COVID-19 update at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
