More than 1.5 tonnes of cocaine were found in a cargo container at the Port of Halifax, valued at about $194 million.
Canada’s Border Services Agency says on March 4, U.S. Homeland Security flagged the possibility of drugs on a marine shipping container coming from California, heading to Europe.
“From there, CBSA Intelligence began tracking the container of interest as it made its way to Canada.”
The container was examined March 6 in Halifax and over 1500kg of sealed cocaine was seized by border services officers at the Container Examination Facility.
RCMP continue to investigate.
