Two candidates have come forward stating they’ll be running for mayor in Port Hawkesbury this fall.
Jason Aucoin who is currently serving his first term as a councillor announced he’d be running for mayor on social media.
Aucoin’s announcement was made the morning of August 5, and the following day incumbent Brenda Chishom-Beaton confirmed she would be reoffering for mayor.
This will be Chisholm Beaton’s third time offering for mayor, having won uncontested in 2016 and defeating Archie MacLachlan in 2020.
Other potential candidates have until September 10 to submit nomination documents.
Election day will take place on October 19.
