The emergency department at Guysborough Memorial Hospital is currently closed.
Nova Scotia Health says it should be reopening by 11 p.m. tonight.
An initial advisory suggested the ER would not be available until Tuesday morning.
Area residents with urgent medical needs should still call 911.
For non-urgent care, you are advised to call your family doctor/primary care provider.
General health advice and information can be obtained by calling 811, a service offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by experienced registered nurses.
The provincial Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line can also be reached 24/7 by calling 1-888-429-8167.
