Inverness County Council is considering repealing two bylaws and are looking for public feedback on the matter.
In a news release, the municipality says the first is Bylaw 8, that has to do with mischief and nuisances.
Currently it states, “A range of disruptive behaviors in public or private areas, including loud or disturbing noises, loitering, trespassing, discharging firearms, maintaining nuisance properties, and possession of air rifles or slingshots are prohibited. Violators may face a fine of up to $100 or up to ten days in jail if the fine is not paid.”
The proposed change would be to remove it with relevant sections already covered under the current Bylaw 41-Noise Control.
The municipality is also looking into Bylaw 11, that deals with curfew. This one would not be replaced.
Currently this states that children under 16 are banned from being in public places between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless they are with an adult, with certain youth events being an exception.
Violations could also result in fines of up to $100 or up to 10 days in jail.
You can have your say on the matter at the next Committee of the Whole meeting, July 17 at 9:30 a.m.
If you want to write in your input, you can submit it to this address by 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 16:
