Internal trade was the big topic of conversation at the premiers meeting earlier this week.
All 13 premiers of the provinces and territories met in Ontario from Monday through Wednesday.
Many have new laws to remove red tape when selling goods or moving workers between provinces, but the premiers say they need more federal funding to help train skilled workers.
Each premier also promised to visit another province or territory for a trade mission in the coming year.
It’s all part of the country’s response to tariffs from the United States.
They also covered immigration concerns.
The premiers say a lot of people are seeking asylum in Canada, and the premiers want their claims processed faster.
They also want the feds to let provinces decide how many permits they can give to international students, because they have a better understanding of what local labour markets need.
Other topics covered were health care and safety, including how to keep violent offenders off the street.
