One of Canada’s biggest tennis stars won’t be in Halifax after all.
Felix Auger-Aliassime has withdrawn from this weekend’s Davis Cup World Group One tie at Scotiabank Centre.
He says it’s due to fatigue, as he just completed a run to the U.S. Open semifinal last week.
Canada is taking on Israel in the two-day event, with the winner heading to the qualifiers first round in February.
Meanwhile there has been some controversy surrounding the Davis Cup event.
It’s due to Israel’s current actions in Gaza.
A group protested Israel’s participation in Halifax recently.
The matches are going ahead as scheduled.
Following his run to the US Open semi-finals, Félix Auger-Aliassime has withdrawn from Team Canada’s Davis Cup World Group I tie in Halifax, NS on September 12-13 due to fatigue.
