If you are on a low income, you can soon apply for help to pay your heating bill this winter.
Applications for the Heating Assistance Rebate Program open, October 1.
The province says to be eligible, families need to earn a combined net income of up to $45,000, with one-person households earning up to $30,000.
If you receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement or income assistance, you can still apply.
A rebate of $400 is set for 2025-26.
You can apply online, or pick up a paper application at Access Nova Scotia centres as well as MLA offices.
If you qualify, you will get an application in the mail or an email reminder.
When you apply, include a heating bill to speed up the process of receiving the rebate.
You will get the funds through direct deposit if you are signed up for it with the Canada Revenue Agency, or you will get a cheque.
The deadline to apply is March 31.
