The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is set to kick off on September 19th and this season will feature 7 Quad County hockey players that you need to see play!
I will give a summary of each of the Quad County players who will be lacing up their skates for the 2019-2020 QMJHL season.
Player #1 Colten Ellis, Rimouski Océanic

River Denys own Colten Ellis is the First Quad County player we take a look at, Colten had a very exciting season with the Rimouski, Océanic last year!
Last year Ellis made 46 starts in net for the Océanic coming out with 27 wins and a not too shabby .910 save percentage.
Those stats caught the eye of The St. Louis Blues who drafted him in the 3rd round (93rd Overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.
Expect much of the same success from Ellis this year as he and Rimouski look to be one of the top teams in the Q this year!
Player #2 Ryan MacLellan, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies

Beaver Meadows native Ryan MacLellan of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies had a very solid season last year!
In 46 games played he posted three goals and five assists finishing the season with a +16 and finishing up the year as part of the 2019 Presidents Cup and Memorial Cup champion Huskies!
MacLellan will be coming into the season with a young Royun Noranda squad and as MacLellan is a veteran of the Q you can expect him to show some leadership on the ice for the defending Memorial Cup Champion Huskies.
Player #3 Jacob Hudson, Moncton Wildcats

Pleasant Valley’s Jacob Hudson Of the Moncton Wildcats in one of the toughest grittiest players in the QMJHL who can also display a lot of skill.
In 56 Games last year with the Wildcats Hudson put up 12 goals 23 assists and logging 51 penalty minutes proving his grit and grind mentality!
Hudson was able to wear the coveted “A” on away games for the Wildcats last year.
You can expect to see much of the same leadership this year and also some great hockey from this very talented player!
Player #4 Logan Chisholm, Acadie-Bathurst Titan

Pomquet’s Logan Chisholm of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan has shown in his very short career that he is a proven winner in the QMJHL winning the Presidents Championship and The Memorial Cup in his first season 2 years ago!
Last year Chisholm was given the coveted “A” on his jersey.
However, it was an injury-riddled year for the young winger as he only managed to get into 17 games but finished with 12 points in the few games he did play!
Chisholm is a very talented hockey player and he will be back with a vengeance this year on an up incoming young Titan team., this will be a fantastic year to keep an eye on Chisholm.
Player #5 Jacob Stewart, Moncton Wildcats

Antigonish native Jacob Stewart is one of 3 Quad County players on the Moncton Wildcats.
Standing at a touch over 6 feet tall you wouldn’t want to mess with him on the ice, in 57 games for the Wildcats last year Stewart was able to notch six goals and three assists while showing his defensive skill finishing the season as a plus three.
This year with his cousin Sean Stewart and fellow Quad County Wildcat Jacob Hudson this should be a wicked team to watch with Stewart centering one of those lines for Moncton
Player #6 Sean Stewart, Moncton Wildcats

Antigonish’s Sean Stewart of the Moncton Wildcats is next. Sean is a defenseman who also stands over 6 feet tall and is a very capable QMJHL defenseman!
In Sean’s first full season with the Wildcats last year he was able to notch a goal and add three assists in 49 games.
Now with a full season under his belt, you can expect Sean to show much improvement and more confidence in his game with this very strong Wildcats team!
Player #7 Chase Ellis, Drummondville Voltigeurs.

Whycocomagh’s Chase Ellis will be lacing up for his rookie season with the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
The thing about Ellis though is that it won’t be his first game in the Q.
Last season Ellis made the team out of camp as a 16-year-old and was able to play seven games for a very stacked Volts squad before getting sent down to Junior A to play with the Pictou County Crushers.
In 21 games with the Crushers last season Ellis finished with nine goals and five assists.
Ellis will be out to prove himself in hopefully his first full season with Drummondville.
I want to wish a big congrats for all these guys making their teams and the best of luck to them during the season!
If you have the chance to see these talented players play you will have to take the opportunity!
