A local hockey player has a new home in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Ryan MacLellan, a defenceman from Beaver Meadow, has been traded from the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies to the Moncton Wildcats; Rouyn-Noranda gets a seventh-round pick in return.
MacLellan, who won the 2019 Memorial Cup with the Huskies, joins three other local players on the Wildcats- Pleasant Valley’s Jacob Hudson and Antigonish’s Jake and Sean Stewart.
He has six points- three goals and three assists- in 35 games during the 2019-20 season; he also played parts of two seasons in Cape Breton in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
The QMJHL trade period ended at 1 p.m. Monday.
