The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the cancellation of May’s convocation ceremonies at StFX.
In a letter to students, Kevin Wamsley, the university’s president, says they can’t hold such a large gathering in a public place without posing significant health risks to all of the participants involved.
Wamsley says they’re working diligently on alternative plans for convocation, and will share that information when a decision has been made.
The university is in the midst of a one-week suspension of classes; officials say they’ll transition to online or alternative delivery methods for the remainder of the term.
The entire StFX campus is closed to members of the general public until the end of April.
