The mayor of Port Hawkesbury says their pandemic plan has shut down most government spaces, but it hasn’t stopped work from getting done.
Brenda Chisholm-Beaton says the business of government is ongoing, but they’ve closed non-critical facilities, town employees who can working from home are doing so, and they’re holding town meetings virtually.
Chisholm-Beaton told The Hawk Morning Show one thing they haven’t closed is their trail network.
“Walk our trails, but use common sense,” she said. “Don’t go if you’re unwell, and when you hike, please stay six feet away from other trail users- it’s to exercise, not socialize.”
Chisholm-Beaton said the goal of their pandemic plan is to protect as many vulnerable people as possible.
She said it’s everyone’s responsibility to flatten the curve and help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
