The latest single from a band with ties to the Quad Counties tries to drive home a recent message from the premier, and help raise money for people in need.
Jon Landry of The Stanfields says the inspiration for “Stay the Blazes Home” came after Premier Stephen McNeil used the phrase during his daily COVID-19 update April 3.
Landry told The Hawk Morning Show he wrote the song the next day, and things moved quickly after that.
“I had a few minutes in the afternoon- seriously, it was about 15 minutes that it was written- and I posted on this Nova Scotia Kitchen Party (Facebook) page,” he said. “It took off like a rocket, and I had a friend of mine ask for a studio version- by Monday night, we had a complete studio song recorded and a video made.”
Landry said band members recorded their portions remotely, so they didn’t have to get together.
He said it’s a fun song and video, but the message needs to be taken seriously.
“We need to do a lot better as a province in reducing our casual mobility,” he said. “The message is the most important thing that we can try to push, and that’s very important for us to do.”
Landry said all proceeds from downloads of the single will go to Feed Nova Scotia.
