The Premier says the availability of masks for front-line healthcare workers is no longer a concern.
At a press conference Monday afternoon, Premier Stephen McNeil said they are now confident in their supply.
McNeil said they’ve worked with local, national, and international partners, and now have months of predictable supply.
“Before we could begin to distribute, we needed to be sure that we had enough.”
McNeil said, because of that, the province began providing surgical masks to all front-line workers in long term care homes for daily wear.
He said the roll-out to long term workers has already begun, and to residential and continuing care workers will begin receiving masks Tuesday.
McNeil said this will improve safety for workers and residents.
The province has seen its third COVID-19 death; 29 new cases were announced Monday for a total 474 province-wide with 40 in the eastern zone.
