The warden of Inverness Co. says their COVID-19 response has been tough, but it seems as though it’s working.
Betty Ann MacQuarrie says the municipality faces unique challenges involving phone and internet service, but they knew they had to work around it to follow public health measures to control the spread of the virus.
Provincial officials announced one new case in the eastern zone Sunday; it was the first new case in the zone, which covers Antigonish and Guysborough counties and all of Cape Breton, in 15 days.
MacQuarrie tells The Hawk she doesn’t want to jump the gun, but there is good reason to be optimistic in Inverness Co.
“We’re kind of holding our own, (but) I really hate to say it because it’s very unpredictable what can happen.”
MacQuarrie says they’ll maintain their pandemic response until provincial health officials advise it’s safe to reduce them.
