The warden of the Municipality of the District of Guysborough says they’re only a few weeks away from reopening their municipal office.
Vernon Pitts says there will still be challenges, and there are still plenty of preventative measures in place.
He says physical distancing, good hygiene practices, and masks are going to be part of the new normal.
Pitts tells The Hawk that doesn’t mean they can’t fully staff and re-open their municipal office.
“If we do as we’re supposed to be doing, it should work out well,” he says. “Hopefully before too long, they’ll come up with a vaccine, and it’ll be back to normal.”
Pitts says staff members never fully left the office; they split their time half-and-half on alternating days to reduce contact.
He says everyone will be back full-time when they re-open the office to members of the public in the first or second week of June.
