The mayor of Antigonish says moving forward with an election during the COVID-19 pandemic will be a challenge they’ll have to adapt to.
Laurie Boucher says physical distancing and more intense hygiene practices make it basically impossible to door knock.
Boucher tells The Hawk candidates have to change their thinking.
“Over the past eight weeks we’ve asked a lot of people to do things differently, so we’re no different,” she says “If we have to do things differently, we have to do things differently, and we’ll adjust for sure.”
Boucher says the town will move ahead with the October election as directed by the Department of Municipal Affairs.
