COVID-19 has forced golf courses to make some adjustments, but people are still coming out to play.
Deborah Carter, a spokesperson with Dundee Resort & Golf Club in Richmond Co., says they’ve reduced course capacity to keep people separated, increased cleaning schedules, and limited access to facilities.
Carter tells The Hawk any lingering concerns haven’t stopped people from coming to play.
“Surprisingly, it’s fairly busy,” she says. “I think everybody was getting a little bit shack whacky, and were excited about getting out.”
Carter says there are a fewer people than usual booking into the resort side of the business.
She says they’re getting a lot of calls for later in the season.
“It’s slow to pick up right now; again, people are staying on the cautious side,” she says. “That’s not even abnormal from other seasons- people leave things to the last minute to make sure that everything is going to work out in their favour, and the weather is going to cooperate for them.”
Carter says they won’t know the full impact of COVID-19 until they can review their numbers.
