An Antigonish Co. venue is one of only four in the province which can hold events with more than 250 people.
Riverside International Speedway is having its first race of the year Saturday.
Spokesperson Joan Roue tells The Hawk they’ve put COVID-19 protocols in place; the biggest change is running six separate zones, each with a maximum of 250 people.
“We’ve had to break up the facility basically into almost like six different businesses,” she says. “Each one has their own entry/exit, restroom, seating, and is totally self contained.”
Roue says there will be concession runners as well, so people don’t need to leave their seats.
She says people in Atlantic travel bubble have been good at following COVID-19 rules, and she doesn’t expect it to be any different with their rules.
“We’re very confident that all the fans that’ll be there will all pull on the rope in the same direction and we’ll have a great event.”
She says they started planning for a race in May and have been in talks with Public Health on how to hold a race safely since then.
