The new warden of Richmond Co. says it’s time for the brand-new council members to jump in.
A new councillor was sworn in for all five districts in the municipality during October’s regular council meeting Monday night, the first since municipal elections Oct. 17.
Amanda Mombourquette, the newly-elected councillor for District 4, was chosen as warden by a secret ballot by her fellow council members shortly after.
After the meeting, Mombourquette said there’s much to learn.
“We need to get our feet wet, so I will be asking people for their patience while we learn the ropes,” she said. “We do need to take our time to get immersed.”
Mombourquette said there’s a lot to read to get completely up to speed, but they are ready.
She said her election as warden is a great show of confidence.
“I’m really excited to get going- I think there’s lots of opportunity for us to be developing in Richmond Co.,” she said. “It’s going to be an exciting four years.”
Mombourquette said they’re prepared to build a list of priorities.
She said they already know it will include health care, broadband, and economic development.
