Asymptomatic testing is rolling out across the province.
Starting today, COVID-19 testing is available for anyone not experiencing symptoms who haven’t travelled outside the Atlantic provinces in the last 14 days.
It is also limited to those who haven’t been to a potential exposure location and haven’t had contact with someone who has tested positive.
Dr. Robert Strang, the province’s chief medical officer of health said testing is recommended for anyone who has a lot of close social interaction through gatherings or many social contacts.
“This is an opportunity for Nova Scotians to help keep each other safe, especially as we approach the holiday season,” he said.
By getting tested, you can help us limit the potential spread of the virus by detecting positive cases in people who do not have symptoms.”
Testing is by appointment only, although those in the central zone can visit Zatzman Sportplex in Dartmouth for testing.
In a release, it notes those getting tested through this method do not need to self-isolate while awaiting results.
However it says the test will only determine if they are positive or not for the day they are tested. Those tested can still be exposed and become contagious afterwards due to close social contact.
