A rep with a local golf course says they’re glad to be able to open while most businesses are shut down by the latest COVID-19 public health restrictions.
Golfers started teeing off at Dundee Resort and Golf Club in Richmond Co. May 12.
T.C. LeBlanc, a spokesperson for the facility, tells The Hawk golf is one of the only forms of exercise and entertainment for some people.
“(They’re) so happy to be here,” she says. “(They’re) so happy to come and be able to get outside, exercise, and enjoy the sport.”
LeBlanc says they’ve only been allowed to open their course; indoor portions of the resort remain closed.
She says heavy restrictions on the kind of recreation allowed has created a lot of new interest in the sport.
“We are picking up new members; a lot of young members, junior members, which is great,” she says. “Of course, we miss our members from Inverness Co., and (would) love to see them come in soon.”
Golfers from Inverness Co. are not allowed to cross county lines to visit the course during the latest lockdown.
LeBlanc says they hope these third-wave travel restrictions are relaxed soon so they can open to their Inverness Co. members.
