More people are turning to the NSLC for pot and gummies.
It’s reporting total sales are up 5 per cent to nearly $228 million this quarter thanks to a boost in both booze and pot sales.
The NSLC has released its second-quarter financial results for July 5 to October 3, 2021.
It says local cannabis products are leading that growth with a 32 per cent increase.
The NSLC President and CEO says in a news release the data also indicates the province is seeing a slow return to pre-pandemic levels.
“We continue to see a gradual return to pre-pandemic purchasing patterns in Q2,” Greg Hughes says. This is reflected by a 7.3% increase in the number of transactions, and a 1.4% decrease in the average dollar value of those transactions.”
There was a 3.3% increase in beverage alcohol sales this quarter to $201.0 million and 20.4% increase in overall cannabis sales to $26.6 million.
Nova Scotia wine sales grew by 28.5 per cent to $4.7 million compared to the previous fiscal quarter.
Local craft beer sales saw an increase of 22.9 per cent to $7.7 million.
The NSLC attributes the rise to extra selling days, increased store hours following pandemic restrictions, and 18 new cannabis stores.
