The Port Hawkesbury food bank is accepting donations for the holiday season.
While it can be easy to overlook food donations this time of year, a volunteer for the food bank says that donation numbers are up this year.
Mary Johnson says with the added demand of the holidays, there are certain items that go faster than others.
“Canned fruit is something that goes down really quickly, and cereal. So canned fruit and cereal would be the two items, probably, that we would need the most.” She says
It’s important that donations continue, especially with a large coverage area.
“We cover Mulgrave area, Auld’s Cove. And we cover West Bay, Dundee, and that area.” Johnson says
The Port Hawkesbury food bank is open on Tuesdays from noon until 3:45 year round accepting food donations.
