
Antigonish area businesses are being recognized for their hard work.
The Antigonish Chamber of Commerce presented this year’s business awards at a ceremony last week. This event occurred during a fitting time, National Small Business Week a time to recognize the contributions made by small businesses to the local economy.
The recipient of the Ian Spencer Award for Excellence in Business was the Antigonish Mutual Farmers Insurance Company. General Manager Brian Morgan says they were humbled to receive the award and believes that helping community organizations with financial donations was a contributing factor to being chosen for the award. The company has made donations to the local farmers market and to local health care facilities.
The Emerging Business Award went to CrossFit Acuate a local fitness club, Co-Owner Matt McNaughton says the work they did to provide fitness classes during the pandemic was a contributing factor to receiving the nomination by having virtual and socially distanced fitness classes. The team at CrossFit Acuate were happy to receive the honour.
Three other businesses received awards
The Outstanding Customer Service Award went to Greg Farrell of Whidden Park Campground and Cottages.
The Export Recognition Award went to Scotia Pallats LTD
and the Young Entrepreneur Award went to Ben Boudreau and his business called St.Fx boxes.
