A new type of scam is making the rounds in Nova Scotia.
The RCMP Cybercrime Unit says there’s been an increase in business email compromise scams.
That’s when cyberattackers impersonate email accounts of trusted businesses.
The fake email notes that the victim’s bank information has changed, and gets them to send money to a fraudulent bank account.
To combat any scams, police ask you to verify all requests for sensitive information, be aware of lookalike domains, and use multi-factor authentication.
